Stuart Stanley studied at both Eastbourne and Wimbledon Schools of Art, specialising in theatre design as well as retaining an interest in fine art. Having left the theatre after 20 years he took up his first love of painting and drawing as well as working as an events designer. Stuart works mainly in oil and acrylic in an expressive, painterly style using vibrant colours and masterly brush marks. The influence of his theatre background can be seen in his dramatic paintings, which are full of light, colour, energy and atmosphere. A love of drawing and sketching in pencil and charcoal, a strong understanding of artistic practice, and a love of the history of art are the foundations upon which he creates his paintings. He is a council member of The Society of Graphic Fine Art. Stuart has exhibited his work in London, Edinburgh, Glasgow and the South East. His work is held in many private and corporate collections in Great Britain and abroad.
